A talk on the history of the alphabet from the earliest known alphabet to the one most English speakers use today.
In this video, I discuss the origins of the order of the alphabet and how that order came to be used. Note: when introducing the use of alphabetical order at the Alexandrian Library, I mistaken say the library was founded around 2800 BCE. I should have said, “about 280 BCE.” The date for the library on the slide is correct.
